City Council Corner - May 1, 2018
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF SANDY CITY UTAH RECOGNIZING THE RECIPIENTS OF THE PRESIDENT’S ENVIRONMENTAL YOUTH AWARD
WHEREAS, six eleven to fifteen year old Sandy sixth grade students including Allison Drennan, Beehive Science and Technology Academy; Timothy Holt, Beehive Science and Technology Academy; Eric Snaufer, Midvale Middle School; Kassie Holt, Beehive Science and Technology Academy; and Carter Lechtenberg, Butler Middle School won third place in Robot Strategy and twelfth place overall in Robot Game Score at the Lego League International Competition;
and WHEREAS, these students developed a gamification application “The Water Bank” to engage consumers in water conservation by tracking water usage through behavior modification;
and WHEREAS, the award winning team is known as the Bionic Porcupines III;
and WHEREAS, the young people of Sandy are tomorrow’s leaders;
and WHEREAS, have been recognized by Governor Gary R. Herbert for their commitment to helping citizens in the great state of Utah to conserve water;
and NOW, THEREFORE, THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DO HEREBY COMMEND THE BIONIC PORCUPINES 3.0 FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENT.
