UDOT July Updates
State Street; 11400 So. To 10600 So. Construction Notification
HOLIDAY SCHEDULE: In observance of Independence Day, State Street will have two lanes open in each direction from 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, through 5 a.m. Thursday, July 5. Limited day and nighttime construction will continue throughout the holiday break. Traffic control measures will remain in place to protect work areas.
Utility and storm drain crews will continue work in the excavated areas to update and install lines. Traffic remains on the west side of the street. Business and driveway access will be maintained, but may be limited if additional access is available.
Drivers should be aware of intermittent lane closures, traffic pattern changes, and speed reduction in work zones.
Traffic will shift to the new roadway on the east side of State Street by the end of June.
Pedestrians use caution when crossing areas under construction. Be aware that pedestrian routes may change. Use alternate routes where possible and adhere to sidewalk and crosswalk closures.
9000 South; State Street to 700 East Construction Notification
UDOT has selected a contractor and construction is planned to begin in early July 2018 with anticipated completion by summer 2019. The main improvement on this project is widening from 5 to 7 lanes to provide better east-west connectivity, improve traffic flow, and enhance safety. Other corridor improvements include:
- Upgraded utilities along the corridor (light, gas, power, storm drain).
- Intersection improvements at the 300 East signal, including adjusted signaling timing to be extended during school crossing hours, flashing LED lights to provide advanced warning to drivers, and adding a protected left-turn movement (green arrow) during school crossing times.
- Reconstruction of the 10-foot sidewalk/trail on the north side of 9000 South.
- Installation of new curb and gutter, signing and striping, and landscaping.
10600 South Interchange Construction Notification
Bridge and ramp closures are anticipated at the 10600 South interchange over two weekends in late July/early August. Work to be completed includes applying a polyester coating on the new underpass and the bridge on 10600 South over I-15. This work will extend the life of the concrete. Be prepared to follow detour signs and/or highway patrol directing traffic. The following dates and associated work details are below:
First weekend: There will be intermittent lane closures on 10600 South throughout the weekend, as well as a temporary closure on 10600 South WB to I-15 NB on-ramp for a 24-hour period. Specific days and times will be provided as the dates get closer.
Second weekend: All left-turn movements across the 10600 South bridge will be closed for each night of the weekend (see map below). See map below for ramp closures and permitted turn movements. UDOT encourages drivers to use 9000 South and 11400 South as alternate routes.
