Remembering Our Former Mayor: David Ernest Shelby
DAVID ERNEST SHELBY | 1923 - 2018
To a man of honor, integrity, generosity, and love, we sadly say farewell. Dave was born of poor means in Brigham City on November 2, 1923. He began working at the age of 13 and never quit. He graduated from the University of Utah, served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and as mayor of Sandy from 1962-66. He was a successful real estate broker and insurance agent. His later years were filled with farming and animals, especially his German Shepherd. He loved Sandy City and especially watching all the ballgames at the park across the street. Dave was laid to rest on what would have been his 95th birthday at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale.
