The UDOT project to widen and reconstruct State Street from 106th South to 114th South won the People’s Choice award this year at the UDOT conference.

"Partnering on the State Street Project between UDOT, Sandy City, Staker Parson, and Horrocks has been a step over average.  Experiences from careful pre-construction planning to detailed resolve of unforeseen circumstances led to successful meetings and lasting professional acquaintances.  Everyone on the team constantly maintained proficient, courteous, and open-minded communication.  This type of personnel conduct promoted successful resolution of events such as design adjustment, residential awareness, stakeholder impact resolution, and future development accommodation.  There were many proceedings that could have gone wrong due to the complexity of the project, but they didn’t because of the team’s transparency and unified goals.  This is a team that will work well together on future projects," stated Nancy Cozzens - UDOT Project.

Traffic can be difficult during such road construction projects, but the better traffic flow and safe roadways along State Street are tremendous outcomes that have improved our roadways in Sandy City.
