Mayor at 2018 Appreciation Awards

Dear Sandy Residents,

The last two months have gone by in a flash! It feels like just yesterday I was being sworn into office. In case you missed the updates on social media,, during our Bradburn Broadcasts, etc., here are some of the great things happening in Sandy since my last note to you:

Purchase Richardson Property: The City Council voted to purchase this property located at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon. The City has been in the process of purchasing this since last year and we are very excited for the possibilities and improved infrastructure it will provide. Acquiring this property will allow us to expand the Bell Canyon parking, improve our water infrastructure by adding a new water tank, and preserve and protect the wonderful open space in Sandy.

Live Streaming: The City Council voted in favor to live stream the video of future City Council meetings. I know this has been requested by many of you, so we are very excited to start the process of purchasing and installing the necessary equipment for a high-quality live video each Tuesday night. Until then, you can still live stream the audio during City Council and stay informed!

Federal Infrastructure Funding: I was able to network with other mayors and federal officials in Washington D.C. about securing federal funding to update our infrastructure, to bring new technology to make our day-to-day lives better and more efficient. We are still exploring ideas and funding possibilities, but we will keep you up-to-date as new information is available!

Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS): The VIPS program recently celebrated their 10 year anniversary and presented the City with a check for over $400,000, indicating how much the VIPS program has saved the City over the last 10 years. We are very grateful for those who volunteer their time to make Sandy a safer place.

The Summit Awards: On January 30th, we honored local businesses and those making great economic and community impact in Sandy during the annual Summit Awards. You can check out the full list of winners here on our website. For future Summit Awards, we want citizens to be more involved in the nomination process, so stay tuned later this year to get involved.

Connect with Us: As always, I welcome your input and engagement - you can connect with us and stay informed on our City websites ( and and on our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube).
