Hit The Trail Running

Addicted To Trails

Post Date:07/05/2016 1:54 PM
Using trails is one of America's fastest growing recreational activities. In fact, trail exercise is booming in popularity with the American Hiking Society reporting almost one-third of Americans, more than 67 million, went hiking in the past year.

You are Not Alone: Sandy Residents are Hooked

In 2012, Dan Jones conducted a city-wide survey of residents to find out how you felt about trails. The results were overwhelmingly in favor of more trails.

94% of those surveyed felt trails, pathways and green space were very or somewhat important.

81 % felt that trails in Sandy were a worthwhile investment.

79% supported the use of city funds for trails.

There's No Cure

Seeing the strong support for trails from the residents, we decided to encourage your addiction by updating our trails master plan and we couldn't do it without you. We held public hearings, open houses and asked for online comments. Now complete, the Trails Master Plan, shows all current trails, planned future trail locations, potential costs and possible resources to make it all possible.
