Our Spring Bulk Waste Collection was rather challenging this year and we appreciate our Public Works staff who worked overtime along with the help of employees from other departments to deal with the unusually large amount of debris due to damaged trees from the late April snow storms and many additional truckloads of illegal dumping. We apologize for the delays this caused.

We have partnered with the American Red Cross to participate in the “Sound the Alarm” Program with a goal to install 1,000 smoke alarms free to Sandy residents between now and October.
Sandy City is asking residents to exercise extreme caution during these dry stages so that the life and safety of everyone in the city may be upheld.

Household hazardous waste is anything in and around your home that is poisonous, flammable, corrosive, or toxic. These include pharmaceuticals, cleaning supplies, yard care chemicals, pesticides, fuels, batteries, oil, antifreeze, and electronics.

In order to improve safety for pedestrians, Sandy City and UDOT are working together to install a pedestrian bridge over 1300 East, south of Buttercup Drive. The bridge will provide access from Eastmont Middle School (10100 S. 1300 E.) to the Sandy library and the neighborhoods on the east side of 1300 east.

The Salt Lake County Health Department will be holding its final household hazardous waste collection event in Sandy City on Thursday July 7 from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Public Works Facility located at 8775 S 700 W.
